III.      OLD BUSINESS

  • “New England Rendokan” Sign
665 Boston Post Road, Map 36/Lot 103
Shopping Center B-2 District
Applicant:  Darryl Baleshiski

The applicant stated that the sign he had proposed at the last ARB meeting on 5/29/2013 was too big. He has since measured the wall and agrees that the sign has to be 2’ x 8’ to allow for a sign on the other side for the other tenant. The sign will replace the Community Police Office sign.

MOTION to approve the signs for “New England Rendokan”, 665 Boston Post Road, Map 36/ Lot 103, Shopping Center B-2 District as presented with the information included on the application. This also includes a 3’ x 5’ directional sign that will be placed just outside of the entrance to the business on a wall that is 12’ x 36’ and replacing the existing sign that belonged to the Community Police Office. There will be no lighting with the approval of these two signs. The second directional sign still needs to have an ARB application filled out, but the ARB Commissioners recommend approval before they receive the application at which time they will review the application, and the Chairman will sign it.;  MADE by A. Yust ; SECONDED by B. D’Agostino; APPROVED by T. Pendleton, B. D’Agostino and A. Yust; (3-0-0).

  • “Lighthouse Tobacco” Signs

    C.  S&S Marine” Wall Sign
18 Riverside Avenue, Map 59/Lot 97
Marine Commercial MC District
Applicant:  Scott Sundholm

S. Sundholm stated he spoke to Chris Costa, Zoning Enforcement Officer, and he was told that recently the ARB regulations were amended to disallow internally illuminated signs in the MC District unless they’ve been grand-fathered in. He said other marinas have internally illuminated signs, and he wanted to know if it was possible for him to have an internally illuminated sign as well.

T. Pendleton said C. Costa has authority over the ARB in enforcing the regulations, and the ARB cannot override that.

S. Sundholm said the wall is 12’ x 92’. The sign is under 100 s.f. The sign will not be internally lit, but it will be down lit with LED fixtures that will be controlled by a timer.

MOTION to approve the “S&S Marine” Wall Sign, 18 Riverside Avenue, Map 59/ Lot 97 Marine Commercial MC District as presented. The sign will be lit with LED down light fixtures that are on a timer set to go off one hour after closing. These will be dark sky compliant lights.; MADE by B. D’Agostino; SECONDED by A.
